Interesting and eye-catching creations and designs are sprinkled throughout Coromandel Town. Whether you’re an up-and-coming artist, or established Master Artist, you’d do much worse than to move to The Coromandel – all the secluded white sandy beaches and history are enough to inspire anyone.

On a visit to Coromandel Town, between the oodles of amazing things to do, you can support the towns creative brilliance with a trip to some of the most prestigious galleries and exhibitions in the Coromandel Peninsula, as well as some lesser-known local secrets.

  1. Two Railwaymen Exhibition at Driving Creek Gallery

They’ve been working on the installation of this great exhibition.

Paintings and Drawings on a railway theme by Barry Brickell and Photographs from Kelvin Hynes on a life spent working with, on and in Railways in Aotearoa. Open to the public Easter and ANZAC weekends @ Driving Creek Gallery Coromandel.

2. Julie Pijfers Jewellery Shop

Julie has been designing and manufacturing jewellery for over 20 years. Now based in the beautiful Coromandel you can visit her shop at:

46 Kapanga Road, Coromandel Town,
New Zealand.

3. Allan A Beaver Studio

Allan is an artist who creates landscapes, still life and animals; he works in both oils and pastels.

His studio at 95 Pagitt Street, Coromandel Town is open to the public

4. Barbara von Seida Studio

Barbara von Seida is an artist who paints in acrylic and watercolour with a unique expressionistic style, evolved over decades, resulting in invigorated imagery. She has received numerous prestigious art awards.

Barbara’s studio and gallery also holds watercolours from the estate of the late Patrick Greene who recorded local scenes around Coromandel over a period of four decades. 

Studio open (other than Arts Tour) by appointment. Most days there is a sign on the road. Studio available for organised group artistic tours.

5. Daniel Kirsch Studio

Berlin born full-time artist Daniel Kirsch lives and works in Coromandel town. His work is held in collections both throughout New Zealand and overseas.

6. Gallery 6

Six local artists opened a pop-up exhibition at the end of 2021. They are enjoying being seen and using the gallery space on a permanent basis.  Occasionally they work as a group at the gallery and are happy for visitors to see what they are doing.  This will happen over Easter too as part of the impromptu Arts Tour initiative to have studios open.

7. Kay Ogilvie Studio

Kay is an enthusiastic and accomplished potter and sculptor based in Coromandel Town. If the sign is out, Kay is in; if not, give her a call to make an appointment.  

8. Lindsay Nicholls Studio

Landscapes feature strongly in Lindsay’s acrylic, oil, and watercolour paintings, with the beautiful Coromandel as inspiration.

She has a private gallery situated at her home. Please contact for a no obligation viewing.

9. Raewyn Penrose

Raewyn Penrose uses only the finest New Zealand merino wool. She personally designs and hand creates an eclectic range of one-off fashion garments and accessories, soft furnishings, and artwork in her Gallery/residence in Coromandel Town.
