The much-loved Whangamatā Easter Arts Trail returns on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th April, promising a vibrant weekend of creativity, connection, and discovery across the community. With 10 unique hubs open to the public, this year’s trail invites locals and visitors alike to step inside studios, gardens, and pop-up exhibition spaces to experience an inspiring range of art and artists.
Each hub offers something a little different. Some feature solo artists opening their personal creative spaces, giving a rare glimpse into their process and practice. Others bring together a collective of local and visiting artists, creating dynamic, shared environments where ideas, styles, and stories intersect. This mix makes the trail not only diverse in artwork, but also rich in atmosphere intimate in some places, lively and collaborative in others.
The 2026 trail showcases an impressive breadth of mediums and approaches. Visitors can expect to see everything from expressive painting and contemporary mixed media works to finely crafted ceramics, striking portraiture, and tactile fibre art. Garden art and sculpture also feature strongly, with artists displaying pieces designed to live outdoors—perfectly suited to coastal living and adding another dimension to the trail experience.
