Our third coromandel artbeat spring festival saw 95 creative events across our rohe, from live music gigs, artist open studios, workshops, local theatre, makers markets, exhibitions, community events, and festivals. The online program was diverse, offering something for everyone to enjoy.
This year’s artbeat got kicked off back in early September with a free community concert by the well-known New Zealand ukulele band, The Nukes, who performed in the beautiful space of St George’s Church to a big crowd. Their fun, inventive, and entertaining music launched our festival and set the stage for three months of community connection and celebration around the Coromandel Peninsula.
The artbeat gig-guide saw performers from around the motu come to our peninsula to put on shows, as well as many of our local musicians and artists from our own creative communities.
“Collaborative relationships were formed between our creative communities, organisations, businesses, artists, and the festival team as spring bloomed in our region and our creative sector looked to harness that new energy.”
We are starting to collect and collate data from our artbeat 2025 and will produce another impact report upon completion in early 2026. Below are some links to two short surveys, one for participants and one for attendees of our artbeat. If you are either of these, please take a few minutes to fill out the forms to help us gather feedback.
The coromandel artbeat spring festival 2025 was powered this year by funding from the Thames Coromandel District Council’s District Events Fund (DEF). We also had promotional support from CFM, Destination Hauraki Coromandel, and other local media outlets, and we worked with MediaWorks to market our Artbeat Spring Festival to audiences from our nearest urban centres, as we looked to strengthen our creative sector and build a more prosperous future, ensuring positive economic and social well-being outcomes for all.
