Arts, culture and heritage organisations from around the Coromandel are invited to apply for a year-long online training and mentorship programme to build on their fundraising skills.

In a joint initiative by Creative Coromandel (He Mana Toi Moehau Trust) and TCDC the members of up to 15 arts, culture and heritage groups or not-for-profit organisations from the Coromandel Peninsula will be supported to participate in a diverse fundraising programme, which will be run online by capability building platform Funding HQ. It will include some self-directed learning, expert monthly one-on-one coaching, access to the sector’s most comprehensive funding database, and additional tailored fundraising support and advice.

Funding HQ is New Zealand’s most innovative online fundraising platform and is helping the not-for-profit sector to be financially sustainable so our communities can thrive.

Creative Coromandel (He Mana Toi Moehau) is an independent charitable trust, made up of artists and advocates from around the region. They are being supported by the Council to facilitate the programme, and are currently welcoming expressions of interest.

Fiona Cameron, Chair of Creative Coromandel, says Funding HQ’s expertise will help organisations to achieve their goals, while strengthening our local arts, culture and heritage sector.

She encourages organisations to put their hands up, as it’s a “unique opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals across the district’s arts, culture and heritage sector, and gain valuable insights and resources around funding success”.

“You’ll receive personalised guidance from experienced mentors who are passionate about helping these sectors thrive,” says Fiona. “Participants will have access to a wealth of in-depth knowledge and resources to help them achieve their funding goals.”

Ideally more than one member from within each organisation will take the course to better embed and share the knowledge gained when completing the 12 modules and participating in regular online sessions. Participants will need to invest around 2-4 hours per week to make the most of the programme.

If your group or organisation is interested in participating in the online programme, please submit an expression of interest by 5pm Friday 30 June, by emailing info@creativecoromandel.co.nz. Places are strictly limited to 15 groups. Participants will be finalised in early July and notified.

In a further opportunity, our Council is again bringing Funding HQ’s founder, Jenni Giblin, to the district to run four half-day in-person fundraising workshops during July.  “Jenni’s workshops are always inspiring” says Fiona.  “Creative Coromandel can highly recommend that your organisation arrange for someone to attend one or more of these free sessions even if your group is unable to participate in the year-long programme.”

These face to face workshops will be useful for those wishing to participate in the 12 month online programme and will be held from 9am to 12pm on the following dates:

  • Thames, Thames-Coromandel District Council – 10 July
  • Coromandel, TCDC Coromandel Area Office – 11 July
  • Whitianga, TCDC Whitianga Area Office – 12 July
  • Whangamatā, TCDC Whangamatā Area Office – 13 July
