Dec 6
Sashiko Stitching Workshop
Discover Sashiko, the Japanese running stitch tradition that’s slow, mindful, and beautifully meditative. Learn classic techniques and then experiment with more textured, freeform stitching.
In this workshop you will:
-
Learn tips for traditional Sashiko stitching
-
Explore contemporary, experimental approaches
-
Create a stitched sampler on recycled indigo fabric (provided) or your own fabric
-
Try a simple stylus method to transfer patterns onto fabric
-
Use traditional Sashiko threads or mix threads for a modern look
Your sampler can later be used to embellish clothing, patches, bags, book covers, and more.
