Business Details
The Whitianga Music Club was formed to provide a friendly and supportive venue for local musicians to meet, play and jam together. They strongly believe that musicians get better by playing and performing in front of an audience is an essential part of that process. They meet once a month in the Coghill Arts Centre, in Coghill Street Whitianga.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Friday of every month. The format is to have a 7pm start, with a short open mic session followed by a guest band or artist. They will play for half an hour, followed by more open mic session. They have themed nights and an open blues jam session where you can join in. It's a perfect opportunity to try out new songs, grab a bass player or keyboards, saxophone player to help out on your songs. There is a PA provided, a small keyboard, bass amp, spare guitars (bass, acoustic and electric), and guitar amps. There is no drum kit at this stage, but they do have an upright piano.
They want to encourage musicians to feel comfortable trying out their original music. Play your own songs if you have them; you are guaranteed a receptive audience.
The Club is promoted primarily on Facebook.
