Joanne Mahoney

Artist: Painter, printer, mixed media Joanne lives in Whangamata on the Coromandel Coast and works from her studio at home. She was born and brought up in the Wairarapa. She lived in Singapore for two years where she discovered she could paint. Joanne is mainly self-taught but has attended many classes and has had some very inspirational teachers along the way. She loves her coastal environment hence her water colour paintings of shells etc she has collected on her beachcombing walks. These images are often used in her cards and ready-to-frame digitally reproduced prints. Asian influences are often seen in her work too. In 2017 Joanne, along with six others from the Coromandel did a printmaking course. Everyone loved it so much a group press was brought and Printmakers Combined was formed. Two successful exhibitions have now been held in Thames and Tairua during the Mercury Bay Art Escape. So along with painting using watercolours and mixed media, printmaking has been added to the list of things she loves working with in her studio. Studio open by appointment.
