Thames Music Group Presents the Friday lunchtime concert - Te Puru School Kapa Haka group

Friday Lunchtime Concert Features Te Puru School’s Whanau Purapura Each year one of Thames Music Group’s free Friday lunchtime concerts features a performance by students from a local primary school. This year, our July free Friday lunchtime concert, at 12:15 pm, on Friday 25 July, features Whanau Purapura, Te Puru School’s Kapahaka group. Whanau Purapura’s performance features Te Puru School’s senior members (age 11-13), many of whom have been part of the group for many years. They will be performing some classic waiata as well as some waiata special to the local area. Each week they train to sharpen their actions, fine tune their singing, and come together in the spirit of Whanaungatanga. Their kaupapa is to fill Te Puru School’s tamariki with pride in the cultural arts that are unique to Aotearoa. The group also likes to keep it fun, learn the old stories, perform on special occasions, and at times, move the kuia (nans) to tears of aroha. Come and support our local school children and enjoy their performance at this free concert.
