Sunday TMG Afternoon Concert Features Zest String Quartet

Thames Music Group’s September Sunday afternoon concert on Sunday 12th October at 2 pm, features Zest String Quartet. Zest String Quartet is a collective of Auckland musicians which aims to curate unforgettable live music experiences. Featuring Amber Reed and Joo Yeon Lee (violins), Charlotte Francis (viola) and Sangah Park (cello) Zest performs in a growing number of public recitals and festivals, and have collaborated in performance with artists such Chong Nee, Anonymouz and Lana Fia. Zest String Quartet is based in Auckland and comes to Thames shortly after their well- received 2025 public recital ‘Beyond this Earth’ which accompanied the Auckland Central Library’s special exhibition “Other Worlds”. In 2024, they were featured in Fashion Quarterly magazine and performed as part of "A Niu Dawn" Festival produced by Black Grace. The group’s recital programmes, designed by founding violinist Amber Read, are characterised by playful repertoire, integrating the ease of the familiar with the excitement of discovery. Their performance for the Thames Music Group will feature re-inventions of Satie’s hypnotic Gymnopédie no. 1 and tunes from Anna Magdalena Bach’s treasured notebook. Founded in 2016, Zest has performed in venues across the country including Auckland Museum, Auckland Art Gallery, SkyCity Events Centre, Trott's Garden, Corban Arts Estate and Shed10.  In addition, all four members lead active lives in freelance music, teaching and performing with ensembles such as Opus Orchestra, Auckland Choral, and Auckland Philharmonia.
