2022-06-24 2022-06-25 Matariki Quilt and Textile Art Exhibition
It has been three years since WP&Q have had an exhibition, so they are very excited about this one. It promises to be bigger and better than any exhibition they have held before. Their members have been busy making quilts and other forms of textile art, both individually, and through workshops with renowned tutors Shirley Sparks and Juliet Fitness. Aotearoa Quilters newest traveling exhibition, “Brown” will also be on display. We will have a range of merchants from far and wide, including “The Apple Basket” from Kaiwaka, “Aimee’s Homestead” from Palmerston North, “WideBacks” from Hamilton, with an extensive range of backing fabrics, and our very own “Tis The Season” from Whitianga. Bernina Sewing Centre will be there with a range of sewing and quilting machines for you to look at as well as other quilting merchandise. There will be long arm quilting machines and accessories on display and to purchase, from “Quiltique NZ”. Come and try your hand quilting on one of the long arm quilting machines. Matariki is our theme for this mid-winter exhibition. There will be some activities for the young and young at heart, so bring your mokopuna along. There will be a great café on site, with a range of treats for morning tea, lunches, including hot soups, and if you feel like a break in the afternoon, even a glass of wine will be available. A scissor sharpening service will be available, by our very own “Whanga Knives”. Proceeds from this will be donated back to the club to go towards our charity quilts. Bring them with you in a named bag, and they will be ready for you when you leave. Raffles will be aplenty. Raffles will include hampers, an item from Miss Lolo and quilts. Please save the dates and come for the day or come for the weekend. As they say, Whangamata is the “Pride of the Coromandel”. It’s a beautiful town to visit. They look forward to seeing you there and sharing with you what we have been up to since we held our last exhibition in 2019. $5 entrance fee, children are free.
