Welcome to our Light Festival page to keep you informed of what will be happening at the upcoming event.
This is a family friendly event for all to come and enjoy and will be held at Hot Water Beach Top 10 Holiday Park.
To enter the event, you must be staying at Hot Water Beach Top 10 Holiday Park and all are welcome to come and stay.
We will not be open to the public to keep the numbers down and the enjoyment and fun up for those
staying at the camp only.
The Light Festival is all about fire and lights, if you have a display you would like to have at the Light Festival, please feel free to contact us. ( mark@nzmtg.co.nz )
Feel free to bring a picnic and set up in the event area ( no marquees ), we have a nice big spread out area with lots happening throughout the event for you to take in and enjoy as the build up to the bonfire begins.
Gates open
3pm
Only those with passes given out at the camp office will be allowed into the event area.
Food and vendors
3pm will be open to the end of the event for you, plus there is a fish and chip shop open in the campground also.
Cold Air Balloon Inflation Walk Through
3.30pm - 4.30pm
( Hot Water Beach Surf Life Saving Team will be collecting a gold coin to enter, please support them )
Light Festival Hot Air Balloon Night Glow
5.15pm - 5.30pm
With the hot and cold balloon inflations on the day will be weather dependent and the balloonist will be making the call if these can happen, as they must have very light winds only for safety reasons for this to be performed.
If you haven't seen a night glow before this is where the hot air balloon gets inflated and looks very impressive as it burns flames to keep it up, the balloon is tied to the ground and does not fly or do rides.
Thunder Hop Show & Shine
3pm - 6pm this will be in place with the winners being announced at the end, then they will all be departing from the event location in one group so you will hear the thunder from their motors as they depart.
Fire Dance Competition
6.30pm - 7pm We will be holding our first Light Festival Fire Dance competition for all fire dancers around the country to take part in, and be in the chance to win the $1000.00 prize pool ( 1st prize $500. 2nd $300. 3rd $200. )
Best RV / Campsite Light Display Contest
7.15pm winner announced
Join in and be part of the Light Festival by adding lights to your Motorhome, Caravan or Tent and be into win a deluxe unit for a night at Hot Water Beach Top 10 Holiday Park.
To Enter:
Just come and see the team at the mobile caravan office between 3pm - 5pm on the 4th June and let them know your campsite number and name, it's that easy.
Then one of the judges will visit your site to see your light display in place so make it look WOW.
Winner will be announced on the night and be given the voucher to use for the deluxe unit.
Band Starts
7.30pm Feel free to bring your deck chairs and set up a picnic in this great location and sit back and listen to the live band playing or even get up and have a dance.
Lasers Performing
8pm - 10pm
There will be a number of lasers performing around and inside the Light Festival area once it is dark at different times.
Bonfire to be Lit
8.15pm
Join us for the first Light Festival big bonfire to be lit, there will be a safety area around the fire not to be crossed please, this will be big enough to keep everyone warm !!.
Band Playing
8.30pm this will be the bands second set so get those dancing shoes or sandals moving to the beat.
The Light Festival Will Finish
10pm
All campers to head back to there camp areas
Gates Closed
10.30pm event area cleared.
Terms:
The Light Festival will be held on the 4th June 2022, with back up weather date to be the 5th June 2022, if we have to make the call due to the weather this will be posted on our social media pages.
The times above have been put in place to let you know when and what is happening throughout the event but can change on the day.
All attending must bring a torch or some sort of lighting for you to walk around safely as there will not be flood lighting in place, as we need the event area to be darker to see the effects of what will be in place.
There will be set areas in light for you to see, i,e ( vendors, food unit, mobile office on site )
Security & safety marshalls along with Light Festival and Hot Water Beach Top 10 Holiday Park staff will be onsite making sure everyone is enjoying themselves and behaving, no warnings will be given if you are drunk or misbehaving at this free event for campers.
