GUITY EVELYN - Summer Exhibition

Guity grew up in Nice, on the Cote d'Azur, influenced by the beauty, the light, the colours and textures of Provence - the same influences that inspired some of her favorite painters, Chagall, Matisse, Cezanne. After travelling the world, she found that same affinity with the Coromandel, and since moving to her Opoutere Beach home and establishing her studio-gallery over 30 years ago, she has established herself as a very distinctive and much-loved artist. Blending her Mediterranean influences with the rich and varied Pacific tones of the Coromandel, Guity's unique styles, her boldness of materials and balance of colour. along with an uncanny ability to 'play' with light, are evident in her art - whether in her abstract or figurative works. With a passionate New Zealand-wide following, Guity's works are also much collected by overseas art lovers, especially from Australia, Europe and North America. For her 2023 Summer Exhibition, Guity welcomes visitors to view her latest paintings at her home-studio - Topadahil Art Studios - beautifully situated overlooking the Wharekawa Harbour and looking out to Opoutere Beach - Just 10 minutes north of Whangamata.
