Coromandel Area School Hall & Driving Creek Gallery

Trains, pots, musings, music for consort of viols: a strange, unexpected combination united in this series of concerts with readings from the ‘wrertings’ of Barry Brickell.

 

The programme will be presented in towns on the Main Trunk Line in the North Island. Music from the time of Shakespeare and present-day New Zealand will be combined with readings from ‘A Barry Brickell Reader’ read by Gregory O’Brien. Composers will include Orlando Gibbons, William Byrd, Alfonso Ferrabosco from 17th Century England, and Gillian Whitehead and Ross Harris from 21st Century New Zealand.

The tour, originally planned for 2020, now takes place in August - September 2021. It visits Porirua, Palmerston North, Feilding, Marton, Taihape, Ohakune, Taumarunui, Te Kuiti, Otorohanga, Ngaruawahia, Te Awamutu, Hamilton, Waiuku, and Auckland, concluding in the Driving Creek Art Gallery, Coromandel.
